Research & Publications

My research and publications explore sleep paralysis, anomalous experience and consciousness, with a particular focus on experiences that extend beyond conventional accounts of sleep paralysis. This work includes my doctoral research and the development of the Threshold Contact Experience (TCE) framework, alongside publications and ongoing research into the wider dimensions of anomalous experience.

Doctoral Research

Managing the phenomenology of sleep paralysis: re-evaluating theories and challenging conventional understanding

PhD in Sociology | University of York

My doctoral research explored the lived experience of sleep paralysis through qualitative interviews and long-term autoethnographic research. It examined the complexity of the experience beyond bodily paralysis, including its sensory, embodied and anomalous dimensions. The research provides an important foundation for my subsequent work on Threshold Contact Experience.

Current Research

The work focuses on five core features: Presence, Interaction, Environment, Agency and Memory Carryover, while exploring their wider implications for the study of consciousness and anomalous experience.
