I view sleep paralysis as a spiritual experience first and foremost. And whilst there is a great deal of medical data, that can give you information related to the physiological impact of sleep paralysis, there is still no medical explanation for the cause of sleep paralysis and why it happens to some people and not others.
The effects of sleep paralysis are fairly evident and include symptoms such as; tiredness, irritability, lack of sleep, etc, and of course, there is paralysis during the experience. Physically, the effects are related to sleep deprivation as there are no other physical symptoms apart from the fear of going to sleep and other fear-based emotions. For me, I feared that the moment I slept they would come to get me. It was a real fear and it prevented me from sleeping.
As for the cause of sleep paralysis, its spiritual origin makes it unique to the person’s spiritual makeup. Agreements were made before deciding on this incarnation and one’s spiritual development is unique to the individual. There are also other factors that would determine who would have sleep paralysis. Generally, sleep paralysis is a gateway to the spiritual realm and the individual must develop themselves enough spiritually to move through the gateway.
