Yes. Although the term spiritual ‘awakening’ can be a little confusing as by definition it implies a singular event, that once it has taken place the event is over.
Whereas ‘awakening’ in the spiritual context, is a continual unfolding of heightened levels of awareness. To some extent, it could be said that the unfolding or awakening begins from birth. Each person gains differing degrees of awareness as their life progresses.
For some, there is a sudden flash of awakening. They can pinpoint the moment that their awareness increased and they advanced or recognised their spiritual journey. This moment is noted without acknowledging the events, situations and life experiences that gradually unfolded to bring them to the point of the recognised awakening.
Life presents us with ‘contrasts’ or experiences which prompt our spiritual growth. The contrast can be positive or negative, yet have the same effect, which is to stimulate individual growth, personal development and spiritual expansion. As stated earlier, this growth can begin at birth and end at physical death.
