Quora Question Answered – Has anyone woke up shaking and growling during sleep paralysis?

I’ve definitely woken up shaking, but not growling as far as I know.

Growling does take place whilst I am still asleep and experiencing sleep paralysis, as I am trying to make sounds. These sounds are translated as growls being made whilst I am sleeping when really I am frightened and trying to wake up.

My family are very much aware of the growls. They are on call to wake me up the moment they hear them, but they stop as soon as I awaken and the episode is over. The shaking, however, continues for several minutes, until I climatize back to the waking state and feel safe.
